The new system PROMEL FGP-05s is the safety version of the FGP-05e; it can be used in railway applications.
Description: The new system PROMEL FGP-05s is the safety version of the FGP-05e; it can be used in railway applications.
FGP-05s can be equipped with one, two or three CPUs, also I/O cards are equipped with a microcontroller. The distributed architecture guarantees the safety of the overall system and the signalling of system’s faults.
The system can manage up to four discharge areas. For each zone it is possible to manage OUT OF SERVICE status on:
- fire detection sensors
- manual discharge push buttons
- discharge actuating devices
- optical and acoustic signalling devices
- alarm signalling to other systems
- fault signalling to other systems.
All these operations can be executed independently, without compromising the management of non-affected zone.
The new operator interface, completely redesigned, provides full information on the operating conditions of the system by means of led and alpha/numeric display.
With reference to FGP-04 unit, many logical functionality have been redesigned to take into account Customers’ needs and past experience, while maintaining full compliance with applicable regulations.
The main innovations in functionality concern:
- discharge management and time delays;
- discharge inhibit management;
- Signals Tag editing and Network Configuration;
- self-diagnostics.
The software is designed to allow changes only within specific functions and by authorized personnel.
This ensures full compliance with the safety parameters required by CPD Directive and by EN 61508 norm, both in system’s configuration and functional logic.
FGP-05s unit is suitable for the use in railway applications (trains, tramways, metro) for the following reasons:
- it is conform to EN 50155 standard (Electronic equipment used on rolling stock);
- it can implement all the functions (detection, alarm, selective switch-off, commands and fire suppression) required by the standards UNI EN 11170 part 2, EN 45545-6 and UNIFER U94.02.075.0;
- it offers the safety level required by the Italian specification UNIFER U94.02.075.0.
The unit can be customized in order to be adapted to different applications, also the housing can be modified.
CERTIFICATIONS
- CPD Certification Directive on construction products (CPD) 89/106/EEC. Certificate 0068-CPD-003/2010 rev.1, issued by the Supervisory Body notified by the European Union no. 0068. The certification is for EN 12094-1 and EN 54-2 standards.

- SIL Certification The PROMEL’s certification is based on an FMEDA assessment validated by Exida GmBH (report PROMEL 06-12-35 R008, July 17, 2009).
